today’s music alert

waking up: Okkervil River [myspace.com/okkervilriver]. these guys came via a recommendation from jp. they’re kinda mellow pop. good to greet the first minutes of morning to and get your day goin.

rockin harder than concrete: The Robocop Kraus [myspace.com/therobocopkraus]. frikkin nuts! i saw them open up for art brut not too long ago. self-described as “Ghettotech / A’cappella / Gothic” — this german band is crazy, only to be outdone by their own live shows. if they don’t get you dancing, then i’ve lost all hope for you.

music you can fall asleep to [in an oh so delightful way]: Nick Coward [myspace.com/nickcoward]. he’s from richmond, va… i believe another myspacer with a voice, a guitar, a simple recording device, and a friend who can harmonize pretty lovily [check out 'always' to see what i mean]. this is alt.country that reminds me of iron & wine.
