Adem at the Loft
So I just caught Adem at the Loft. It’s a semi-interesting story, to me at least, so I’ll recount it here. It starts off with a long, stressful day at work. I needed a few minutes away, so I ran down the street to Octane to grab a hummus wrap & coffee (mmmmm delicious). While waiting for the wrap, I notice a flyer on the wall: Badly Drawn Boy was playing the Loft & Adem was opening! I didn’t know too much about the headliner, but I had caught Adem open up a show in Boston while visiting my friend Giorgi a couple years ago. I enjoyed his set, and later fell in love with Homesongs. Fast forward to March 14, 2007. So the doors were at 8p & show at 9p. I get out of work at 9p, not having eaten anything since that hummus wrap around 1:30p.. I find one of my super secret free parking spaces near the Loft & enter in the venue during his second song. Unfortunately, he only played a few more (including a pretty nice cover of the beach boys’ “god only knows”), but it was entirely worth it.
Adem – These Are Your Friends
Adem – Ringing in My Ear
Whenever I go see an opening band I really like & I’m not too familiar with the headliner, I generally give them a couple songs to convince me to stay for the rest of the set. Granted, Badly Drawn Boy also had the fact that I was starving going against ‘em. So after two songs, I ducked out of there & got some grub.
that about wraps up my day!
until we meet again,

Adem – God Only Knows [beach boys]

I’ve listened to Badly Drawn Boy for years (good stuff), but I’d never heard of Adem until you mentioned them yesterday. Listening now.
Anyway, glad it was totally worth it, even though you didn’t give BDB a fair shake, you bastard.
Ha. I think it was the combination of not blowing me over with awesomeness and me needing to consume something other than PBR that led me to leave early.
